ROLE: VACATION PLANNER
LOCATION #1 : DISNEY’S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
Location #2: TRANSPORTATION & TICKET CENTER @ Magic Kingdom

A Vacation Planner is Disney’s version of a theme park ticket specialist that is there to help assist guests with last-minute ticket purchases, issues, or online pickups. According to the Disney College Program website, a VP’s responsibilities may include:
- Selling ticket media to Guests
- Achieving monthly sales goals and maintaining minimum sales requirements
- Working with a computerized ticket system, offering Guests tickets from a menu of over 128 different ticket configurations
- Having a strong knowledge of the Walt Disney World® Resort and its ticket media
- Handling large amounts of cash
- Understanding the Guests’ needs while helping them select the right-fit tickets for their vacations
- Being able to work under pressure and overcoming Guest objections
- Working at multiple locations – potentially all four Theme Parks in any given week
Vacation Planners make their magic in the ticket booths that are usually located right in front of the main entrance as shown below. From Left to Right are the main theme park VP booths: Transportation and Ticket Center [Magic Kingdom], Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios.
VACATION PLANNER DUTIES INCLUDE:
Selling Tickets: one of the main responsibility of a VP is to sell tickets to guests who have not already purchased them. Ticket packages range from
- 1 day/1 park– a one day admiton to one of the 4 Walt Disney World Parks (can only stay at that one park)
- 1 day/parkhopper– a one admittion to all of the Walt Disney World parks (can go to all of them in one day)
- Multi-day tickets– anywhere from 2-9 days of park tickets (it usually saves guest money per day if they bundle their tickets)
- Special event tickets– the Vacation Planning booths also sell hard ticketed events for guests including but not limited to Mickey Not So Scary Halloween party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and the After Hours events
- Annual passes– a ticket that allows guests to visit the parks as many times as they want throughout the calendar year (their is big range of different APs that have different blockout dates, benefits, and perks)
Will Call: another big task for VPs is to process Will Call tickets from guests. These are tickets that the guests have purchased in advance either online or over the phone. VP’s take the confirmation number that the guests have and assign the order to a ticket for the guest.
Verifying Florida Resident & Military tickets: The Walt Disney World Resort offers certain discounts for FL residents and active and retired military personal. It is our job as vacation planners to make sure guests have the proper documentation of either of these things if they purchased a ticket that has this discount (this process is similar to how Will Call tickets are processed after verifying their credentials).
