My Role (Seater)

Role: Seater
Dining Location: Tony’s Town Square Restaurant
Location: Magic Kingdom

Bonjourno! Tony’s Town Square Restaurant is a sit-down dining location at the Magic Kingdom park and is located right on Main Street USA. Guests entering the park can find us on the righthand side after exiting the Main Street Train Station right next to the Main Street Theater where you can meet Mickey Mouse and Tinkerbell. The restaurant is based on the classic Disney film Lady and the Tramp where we serve guests Tony’s most delicious Italian food.

There are many different jobs within the Seater role that we are responsible for. Normally, we rotate jobs about every 2-3 hours in order to space out the tougher jobs like Stocker and Bar with easier jobs such as Seating and Outside Greater.

Seaters Duties Include:

Seating– seating guests promptly and efficiently at the correct table the assigner has assigned them to. Depending on how busy we are and what time of the day it is, we can have anywhere from 2-5 Seaters at a time.

Podium– checking guests in for their reservations, making reservations when we have open availability, making accommodations to reservations, and noting any accommodations or allergies guests may have if they aren’t already documented on the reservation.

Outside Greater– Welcoming guests to the restaurant right outside the restaurant and helping them out with any questions they might have. We also carry a stack of menus of MK’s other dining locations in case we are completely booked, or if guests want to look at other places to dine. Lots of guest interaction, most of the time you get questions along the lines of:

  • Where the nearest restroom is located? (across the street next to city hall)
  • What are the parks operating hours?
  • When does the 3 o’clock parade start? (3 o’clock, but it doesn’t reach our location until 3:15 or so)

Stocker– stocking the 3 side stations for servers with napkins, silverware, glasses, plates, and ice. Lots of running around and constantly checking up on each station and seeing what they need more of and going to get that from the kitchen to make sure the servers have enough of those items.

Bar– taking alcohol orders from servers, and pouring their orders of wine, champagne, or beer and having it ready for them and properly labeling these new items with the time they were brought out.

Bar stocker– going downstairs into the cooler and replacing bottles for the bar up in the kitchen. Afterward, we restock the cooler so then it is full for the next person to restock.

Change-out– going to the 3 side stations and changing out items that can easily spoil such as milk, cheese, orange juice, and creamer and then replace them with new items. We also replace the sanitizer at each of the side station locations.

Parade duty- Since we are located right on Main Street USA the Festival of Fantasy parade makes it final loop right by the restaurant. So our job starting at 3pm is to section off the porch so then there is an open area for guests to still make it into the restaurant while the parade is going on. We stand by and make sure no one is on the steps leading into the restaurant and that no one is blocking the pathway.

Opener– Putting down all the place settings for the restaurant (70ish tables). Taking out everything for the podium and putting it in its correct location and turning on the computers. Putting out the water cooler with fresh cold water in the lobby. Putting in the Lady & the Tramp DVD in the waiting area. Standing at the podium and answering any questions from guests prior to open. Then open the doors at 11am.

Podium Closer

Before Guests Leave: Properly documenting if there were any no-show reservations at the restaurant and updating the system. Taking out the Lady & the Tramp movie that we have playing in the waiting area. Making sure that everything at the podium is properly put away and then that the drawers are locked and that you are logged out of the computers. Putting away the water dispenser and sending it to the back to be clean.

After Guests Leave: Close off the dining area from the lobby so no more guests can enter. Call Security and tell them Tony’s is “all clear”. Go over to the fountain and turn it off and then drain it, once it is drained we refill it. Gather up all the server devices and plug them downstairs in the office (iPads, iPhones, Walkie Talkies).
