One of the things that I have on my bucket list is to make it to all the Walt Disney World Resort hotels during my program. I’ve been very successful so far by making it to about half of them but the one I got to cross off of my list this week was Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. This was my first time visiting this resort and I really didn’t know what to expect when visiting the resort because I hadn’t heard that much about it but it was amazing! Not only is it a Disney Moderate Resort, but it is also home to its own convention center.

According to the Walt Disney World Website Disney’s Coronado Springs is themed to
Relive the romance of Spanish Colonial Mexico at this enchanting Resort hotel. Find your mythical city of gold in a Southwestern-themed haven—from brightly colored casitas to rustic ranchos. Each unique accommodation provides its own unforgettable escape… and a welcoming home away from home.
This moderate resort is themed to colonial Mexico and the American Southwest with over 1,921 rooms divided into 3 village areas, the Casitas, the Ranchos and the Cabanas. The convention site houses up to 45 rooms for organizations to use for their meetings or events and is connected right next to the main resort lobby. Along with the resort is the recreation area “The Dig Site” that houses the resorts main pool, work out area, arcade volleyball court, and spa that sits right across the lake from the main building.
One of the main things that amazed me about the resort is that it doesn’t feel like a Disney Resort at all. Besides some of the 3 Caballeros characters that appear in the Lobby gift shop, I didn’t see anything indicating a character or theme park in the short time I was there. Everything was well decorated to its specific theme in each area with terracotta roofs, tiled fountains, and colorful corridors everywhere.

It’s kind of tucked away in its own area so you really have to make the effort to go and visit if you are resort hopping. However, it is truly a very beautiful resort and is really well themed and I recommend taking the time to explore it! Also, it so happens that same day right after we left the resort that the Disney College Program Housing Team put on a Housing event that was themed to a Mexican Fiesta, and you can only guess who showed up for the festivities.
